Unled Droughtmaster bulls hit $52,500 at last week’s annual Glenlands Droughtmaster Sale, Gracemere.
The Childs family, Glenlands Stud, Bouldercombe witnessed yet another complete clearance, another gross in excess of $1.1M, where 179 bulls sold to average $6534.
In total 61 buyers including 17 studs from the NT, NSW and all parts of Queensland signed off on the offering that averaged 23-months of age.
The 2010 average is $1027 per head below that of the record result posted at the 2009 fixture.
In stark contrast to many seedstock results, this years result saw an extra 14 more bulls sold in comparison to the previous years result.
Kicking off the sale 11 led entries sold to $30,000 to average $12,909 while 145 unled counterpartsmade to $52,500 to average $6269 and 23 purebred herd bulls made to $8,000 to average $5152.
Affordability is still evident in the fixture. Sixty-six individuals (37pc) of the sale sold for $4500 or less with while the ‘top end’ of the market contained 17 (9.5pc) selling for $10,000 or more.
At $52,500 the top seller was the 25-month-old, 909kg, Glenlands O’Shea (P) selling to Wayne and Grant Veivers, Talgai Stud, Rolleston. With an EMA measurement of 130cm sq and fat depth scans of 11/9mm the son of Glenlands Instinctive was sold in a three quarter full procession arrangement. Glenlands retained the remaining share. Under bidders on the top seller were Hastings and Sandra Donaldson, Medway Stud, Bogantungan.
Top led bull at $30,000 was the 28-month-old, 925kg, Glenlands Notus (S) selling to Fred and Juleen Johnson, Chipahill Stud, Biloela. Glenlands retained a share in Notus, a son of Ebony Hills Choirboy (P).
Other high sellers offered in a three quarter share arrangement were the $30,000, 19-month, Glenlands Oratorio (P) (Calioran Adam) going to Alan Atkinson Investments, Cambooya. Glenlands Naughts (P) a 33-month, 1045kg with a 136cm sq EMA measurement is off to Stan and Linda Tincknell’s, Avondale Stud, Bundaberg for $24,000.Full brother to Naughts, the 19-month-old, 665kg, Glenlands Octopus (P) sold to the Carrington family, Rondel Stud, Winton.Dean and Julie Allen, Western Red Stud, Longreach spent $26,000 taking the 23-month, 833kg, Glenlands Overseer (P) while David and Anita Torrisi, Vitwood Stud, Pialba secured the $22,000 27-month, Glenlands Oliver (P) (Glenlands Invincible).
Repeat strong volume buyer support came from No 27 Pastoral Company, Acton Station, Richmond signing off on 23 for an average $5196. Charlie and Jackie Hawkins, Herbertvale Station, Camooweal returned taking nine to average $6722 topping at $10,000 twice and a trio for on average $3167 for the CT Grazing Company, Camooweal. Brisbane based, Daddamarine Pty Ltd ended with eight to average $5125 while David Keating, Gracemere, Mitchell also ended with eight to average $4750. Paul Rongato Agri Business, Ayr returned taking nine to average $4056 while Seamark, Hillview, Theodore also took ninesetting a $4000 average. Woorabinda Pastoral, Anabank, Baralaba ending with seven to set a $3643 medium.
Peter and Delecce Carrington, Rondel Stud, Winton took two at an average $16,000 including the $17,000 Glenlands Oath (S) (Skye Percy). Regular supporter, John Baker, Booroondarra, Middlemount collected five for on average $6500 while Leon Clothier, Emerald took five to average $7200. Sedgeford Pastoral Company, Alpha secured two to average $8750 topping at $10,000 for the 32-month-old Glenlands Native Son (P) (1012kg). Ross Kinbacher, Garthowen Stud, Biggenden picked up the 20-month, Glenlands Origin (P) (745kg) for $14,000. Scott and Tracey Sewell, Wingstar Stud, Augathella parted with $11,000 for the 21-month-old Glenlands D Osborn (P). Caleewa Downs Pastoral, Julatten bought the $12,000 Glenlands Outboard (P) (24-months) while the same figure claimed the 21-month Glenlands D O’Malley for the McCormack family, Clonlara Stud, Glenmorgan.
Doug and Sue Rutledge, Mumblebone, Warren, NSW buying for two addresses took eight to average $4938 including five for Mumblebone at a $4600 medium and a trio for Tim and Lindy Rutledge, Wambin, Qulipie at on average $5500. Glen and Vicki Scott, Bellevue, Baralaba selected three for an average $7334 topping at $8000 twice. Graham and Lou Stuart, Burragurrum Stud, Baan Baa, NSW took the $9000 Glenlands Onslow (P) (20-months) while Allan Jackson, Ennismore Farming, Nobby spent $10,500 for the 21-month, Orangutan (P). Ian and Sandra Muir, Elderslie, Winton picked up two to average $7750 including an $8000 22-month-old by Glenlands D Johnstone. Fred Noffke, Kooringal, Rolleston paid to $10,000 for his two that averaged $7750 while John Dickens, Theodore paid on average $7500 for his trio topping at $9000 for a 26-month-old by Glenlands Hillview (D). Jeffrey, Ross and Stephen Daniels, Lorraine, Gindie took home four to average $5875 topping at $7500 for a 23-month-old ET entry by Glenlands Fabel II.
